You are the first soft rays
Of a warm glowing sun
That has come to challenge
The icy grip
Of a bitterly cold winter
You are the determined new flower
That pushes its way up
Through a hard, harsh Earth,
Begging to blossom
Under the lush, loving touch
Of one central star.
You are the beginnings
Of a fresh flowing stream;
A dew drop's dream
Of a wholeness that cleans
As it moves on its way,
Day upon day.
You now are a river that cuts its own path
With the force of a will,
That won't stop until
It has reached that one goal.
But to where do you go?
Fear not, you'll soon know.
And as you flow, you grow.
And as you get bigger,
It's not hard to figure
That you are in charge
With a mightiful surge
Making morsels of things in your wake.
By now you are crashing
And furiously thrashing;
So ruthless you act out your game.
You slither and shudder;
You banish forever
The ones that dare stand in your way.
Colliding with life
Stirs a passion so deep,
It rises to seek out its source
For a long time to come
It will travel alone
With a vast and unlimited choice.
I am also a river.
For such a long time
I have not been noticed
Flowing beside you,
Sometimes I'd lose you;
Not once would we touch
Nor we'd cross.
But I found my time and I entered your realm.
I quivered and quavered, eternity savoured.
Is this what is meant
By being hell bent?
On a tide of sheer living:
Accepting and giving.
We are heading for something
Much bigger; much better,
Than we could ever be alone.
We can't turn back now,
We have to go on.
The melody beckons us home.
We're here at last
And over we go.
Hurtling down to what's waiting below.
We've reached that place
We knew we would treasure.
Living as one in one life of forever.
